A man who shaped the carpet industry

Mohamed Farid Khamis A true Egyptian visionary Mr. Mohamed Farid Khamis was born in Cairo in April 1940.Since  his early days he was always known among family and peers as a person with objectives and and absolute dedication. After graduated from the faculty of commerce in Ain Shams University in 1961, Mr Khamis decided to pursuer his passion in trade and spent couple of years in 1960s in Kuwait where he was engaged in the retail and import  business of rugs and carpets.

DOMOTEX 2020 showcases integrated flooring, wall and ceiling design

Oriental Weavers fetes ruby anniversary with green initiatives

Dalton, Ga. – It may be its ruby anniversary. But Oriental Weavers is all about being green. “We are pushing 40 years of sustainability,” Jonathan Witt, president, told HTT. The company’s Egypt-based parent, Oriental Weavers Group, is keenly focused on ramping up its environmental efforts, and was recently earned kudos for its strides. This summer, the company was honored by the Green Economy Financing Facility (GEFF) for “pioneering environmentally sustainable production methods,” having saved 42,0000 megawatt hours and 7,600 tons of carbon dioxide last year. AGAIN – Oriental Weavers Just Changed The Rug Business

Oriental Weavers has racked up a lot of firsts, including the first polypropylene Wilton woven machine made rug in a Persian design. I have one. They have now introduced an entry level price point wool Persian village design cross woven on an adapted gripper axminster machine. At the moment I know of just 6 machine woven wool rug lines; one spool ax, 4 Wilton woven, and one side woven gripper ax.
